2018 Canyon Petit Verdot Stags Leap District
Description
It predates Cabernet Sauvignon in Bordeaux, although it is thought that it originated in warmer climates of Southwest France. It is typically the smallest of berries, but it has intense color, good acidity and powerful tannin. Our Canyon Petit Verdot is nestled against the back hills of our estate amid the heat of bedrock and great sun exposure. This thirteen-year-old block has continuously gifted us with fruit that is densely colored, powerful and intense with flavor. In most years, it is a critical component of our Elevage Blend in small amounts. In 2018, this fruit was so extraordinary that our winemaking team couldn’t resist leaving three barrels out of the blend just to see what story they had to tell on their own. We are delighted to release our second single vineyard Petit Verdot. Enjoy our newest adventurous creation!COLOR: Deep onyx purple
AROMA:This wine is heady with aromas of intense blueberry, blackberry jam, hints of violet, mocha, sage, and a splash of vanilla.
FLAVOR: On the palate this full-bodied wine packs great density in mid-palate and shows incredibly firm tannins. Almost viscous in texture, it has richness that will leave you wanting to have a second glass.
