After the sequence of five warm vintages and early harvests, we had almost become accustomed to “warm” as the new normal. The 2018 vintage turned that trend around and brought “the cool” back. Cool vintages deliver many advantages in crafting Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties —there is a freshness and a layered depth to the wines that is delightful. The finesse, grace and complexity of the aromatics of this cool vintage will be one to remember.
