A magnum of wine is a relic that calls for tradition, rite and celebration. The sheer weight of the bottle imposes a sense of importance. When did you open the last magnum of our Cabernet Sauvignon? Was it a 10th wedding anniversary? Or perhaps it was your 50th birthday? We believe these bottles are precious and can be savored at a time of one’s life that requires highlighting. In 2013 we crafted our first Kesu Cabernet Sauvignon. We present you with the release of our 2019 Kesu, the only wine at Chimney Rock made only for magnums. A mere 111 cases of this wine in magnums were produced were produced. Kesu, the Wappo word for deer, honors the legendary stag that leaped across the massive rocks of the Palisades above us. The 2019 vintage is the kind of year worthy of creating legends. It inspired our winemaking team to create a wine that may require your patience. This wine blends some of our great single vineyards including Ganymede, Cardiac Hill Clone 7, Clone 4 and our Canyon Petit Verdot. Age it for a few years for that special moment and you will be rewarded greatly.
